10 tips for beating the Monday blues

Well, I don’t know about y’all, but my Monday is kinda sucking. Between stresses and strains, an achey back that won’t quit, and the realisation that my bank balance and back issues are not boding well for boxing this month, it’s all just been a bit of a bleary one. Rather than sit around and play Def Leppard and feel sorry for myself, I have decided to be constructive and share some tips for beating those Monday Mehs… enjoy! 1. … Read More »

Thursday Thoughts

I can’t quite believe it’s Thursday already – this week has really flown past! All in all, it’s been a rather fantabulous one, despite a few minor mehs. Lately I’ve been finding that the mehs don’t get to me like they used to, and rather than feeling overwhelmed by everything, it feels as though things are finally starting to level out again. Which of course is great – really want to end this shitty year on a calm note! Some … Read More »

Urban Khana – Tuesday

My Urban Khana dinner last night was so yummy that I forgot to take a photo… for reals! I am a sucker for pasta, and the spicy veg pasta I got last night was truly divine. I also got a great desert, which was a yogurty, light, fluffy fruity pudding. Tonight is veg breyani with sambals and yogurt salad… can’t wait! Honestly though, by the end of this week I will be so spoiled and lazy that I may forget … Read More »

From kicking ass to punching shiz up

I really did have the best intentions to try yoga and find my inner peace, really I did. It’s just that for me, a workout isn’t the same without sweat, pain, bruises, yelling, push ups and torture. Maybe I’m weird, maybe I’m crazy… but I just need to be pushed to my limits. Call it a workaholic thing, who knows! I’ve been seriously feeling disgustingly unfit and lazy lately, and I knew that gym was just not going to cut … Read More »

Reasons to feel good

Yes, I know it’s only Tuesday. But already so far, this week is shaping up to be a good one. After having my sister here with me the week before last, the past week was a little on the quiet and glum side but a good weekend later, and things are coming along nicely. It’s when not-so-fun things happen and you STILL feel chipper that you know things are going well – sore back, dry needling and allergies aside, it’s … Read More »

Urban Khana – Monday

So last night I had my first meal from Urban Khana, and I was rather excited when my order arrived. The packaging is really clever – everything was in this nifty multi-level orange container thing, which was in a cooler bag. Monday’s meal was 2 veg curries with rice, dahl and a spicy carrot salad – it was enough for supper, and then more leftover for lunch today (bonus!). The one curry was a mild mushroom one, with the other … Read More »

#MusicMonday – Puff Daddy/P.Diddy/whatever

Aah Puffy. I remember the days when he was Puffy the Nightclub Slayer – from those epic days of I’ll Be Missing You when we would do all the actions when we danced to the White Party maestro classics… it’s a Monday for bringing back the big playa vibes and old skool tunage. Here are some of my favourite Puffy hits, in no particular order… 1. I’ll Be Missing You Faith Evans brings out the goosebumps every time with this … Read More »

3 yummy summer salads

Now that summer is finally (almost totally) here, that means more salads and other light, easy meals. Being vegetarian my whole life means that I was raised on salads, and to me, the more you can stuff into a salad the better – especially to get the protein value up higher. Here are some of the awesome salads I’ve made recently: 1. Cottage Cheese and Sprout Salad – mixed sprouts, cucumber, cottage cheese, carrot, pear and red pepper. 2. Spiced … Read More »

UrbanKhana to the rescue

While I occasionally manage to get myself into gear to make dinner, over the past few months I am finding it harder and harder to make time to prepare a proper, healthy meal. More often than not, it’s just easier to call Butlers, or make toast or waste money on pre-made meals that usually end up not even tasting all that great. So when I first heard about UrbanKhana, I was immediately won over by the idea of having home-cooked … Read More »

Sobering thoughts

I’m not quite sure how or when it happened, but at some point over the last few months, I have not wanted to drink that much. It’s been just about a month since I last had tequila, I’ve been out maybe once since then and stuck to Savanna Lite and even if I have a glass or two of wine at home, I have to spritz it. Maybe it’s the adjustment to my new routine, maybe it’s the deadlines, or … Read More »
