These are a few of my favourite things (the winter edition)

While the tourists seem to think it’s high summer, and are walking around the city with tiny shorts and tee-shirts (and those are just the guys!), the rest of us are freezing our asses off in Cape Town lately. The sun is shining, but there is snow on the mountain and as temperatures drop below 10 degrees, the layers come on and the comfort seeking begins in earnest.

Right now, my favourite things involve self-indulgence and small comforts – with stress trying its best to take me down, and tonsils not co-operating either, it’s been a challenging week but I am determined to come out it positive and sorted. I worked on my horror tonight for the first time in months, and I am hauling ass back to gym tomorrow and trying to avoid Long Street for a bit and behave myself this weekend. Emphasis on trying, but that is the plan anyway! ;-)

So in the interest of self-indulgent habits and all that, my favourite things right now are these…

1. bubble baths

Every day when I get home from work, the first thing I do is run myself a hotter than hell bubble bath, pour a glass of wine and settle back for a good soak. I’m loving the Palmolive Aromatherapy Bath Foam (the stress one and the vitality one especially) and I also add some of my stress relief oil for good measure. I put on one of my masks, and I watch the kitten try not to fall in as he buggers around on the edge trying to figure out how he can get in without getting wet. Good times!

2. wine

Red, white, sparkling – Shiraz, Merlot, Chenin, Brut… it doesn’t really matter. I’m an equal opportunist wine drinker, I love all wine. From the cheap and cheerful Woolies Lite Shiraz to the delightful Krone Borealis, wine is a crucial ingredient to a good pamper session. And after a bad day, it is darn near vital!

3. biker jacket

I got this jacket last month, and am loving it more all the time. It goes with everything – especially jeans and peep-toes, and it’s surprisingly warm too. I like the old skool vibe, and had been wanting one for years so really stoked to have found this one. I plan to wear it to Holly‘s eighties themed 30th this weekend, although what else I’ll wear is still a tough one!

Gosh, I had so many other things but the France vs Mexico game is starting soon and the neighbours are trying to drown out my Sisters of Mercy with their TV. I still have quite a bit of work to get through tonight, so will have to watch the soccer as I work – not ideal since it’s friggin France who are playing (ladies, remember this hottie?!) but such is life. Maybe I’ll just watch the first half. ;-)
