Seven Things

My wonderful friend DT tagged me in a Seven Things post last week, and while it may seem unbelievable that there are even three things people don’t usually know about me, I managed to think of some good ones…

1. I have an irrational fear of moths

Stemming over from childhood, when I used to be shit scared of moths (regardless of their size), I am still a bit freaked out by them. Weirdly enough, this doesn’t apply to butterflies. Prejudice much? I think so!

2. I put bread into the toaster upside down

Apparently it’s meant to go in horizontally, I always put it in vertically – makes more sense to me, and it cooks fine too. I also have to have all the toast slices facing the same way up on a plate too, I’m pedantic like that.

3. I am paranoid about bathroom windows

Especially in flats, when your bathroom faces a passage – even though I *know* you can’t see through frosted glass or through curtain, it still makes me antsy, and prefer to bath by candle light rather than bright light.

4. I have a bit of a thing for snails

When I was a kid we used to have snail races, it was awesome. I don’t know what it is about snails, but to me they are just such strangely fascinating and cute things… like cartoon creatures. I get upset if I accidentally stand on them.

5. I sometimes listen to Celine Dion

Often this is after a glass of wine or two, but I don’t care – there are times that epic warbling snot en tranne liedjies are required, and Celine hits the spot during those times. Ditto Boyz II Men.

6. I am a bit of a worrier sometimes

Maybe I’m just a control freak, or maybe I need calm in my life… but I often tend to stress myself out over the most retarded things. Then for other, important things I am too laid back and don’t take things seriously enough. Inconsistent, contradictory and more often than not, just plain otherwise – I can’t help it.

7. I am not overtly fond of New Years Eve

There are many reasons for this, most of which are not easy to think about. Mostly though, I am very ambivalent, and try to get out of the city for New Years. Picketberg works best. Although, maybe if I was at some OTT fan-friggin-tastic bash somewhere amazing, I might be ok. I don’t know, it’s complicated.

Well, those are my seven things. I tag whoever wants to join the fun – it’s up to you. :-)
