One of the fun things about kittens is that they are rather difficult to train properly. Sure they will learn how to use the sandbox, go outside and generally behave to a degree… but try and stop a kitten from climbing up your leg/chewing the wires of your ghd/biting your hand when you pick it up, and you will soon realise how futile your attempts are.
Jasper is turning into a bit of a terror, and I am starting to look like a cutter. My legs are covered in claw marks, I have tiny little teeth marks in my hand and my bed is covered in bits of lumo green feather from the cat toy he has been killing. I’ve learned the hard way that keeping a glass of water by my bed is stupid, and he is *almost* learning to jump onto my lap rather than claw his way up my leg… but we are still learning what the word ‘no’ means. I am pretty terrible when it comes to being firm – it doesn’t help that the way he deals with me shouting at him and pointing my finger at him is by turning onto his back with his ears back and rolling around like an upside down hedgehog! But it’s either that, or let him carry on fighting with my ghd wire, and so guilty as I feel, I have to make sure he gets the message.
My mom thinks it’s time I started putting him outside my bedroom at night. I’m still on the fence though, much as I would prefer to sleep through the night without fun and games in the early hours, he’s still such a baby and it breaks my heart to think of him being put out all alone!
I’ve been starting to take him outside, and I think I need to be braver and get him into the habit of going outside early on… just worry so much, sigh.
He’s due for his first vet visit soon though, and I think that a nail clipping is in order – he won’t let me do it, and bites lank hard when I try, hopefully the vet will have more luck. Think I also need to get a spray bottle so I can squirt him with water when he is naughty.
It’s been so long since I had kittens, forget what a handful they are… but still, no matter how naughty he is, it is all worth it when he is fast asleep on my lap, with his mouth open, making weird noises and twitching. Or looking at me with his little owl eyes, all innocent and soft and adoring.
And before I know it, he’ll be a big fat grown up cat and I’ll look back on these kitten days all nostalgically.
They really do grow up so fast, and he really is such a cute kitten – naughtiness and all!

Love the new look. And the new kitteh. I had a ginger. They creep into your hearts while they destroy your home. *sigh* The love.
Check those eyes! OMG, they spell trouble! Hahhahaha
@Dolce, TOO true – little horror is just too adorably evil for words. *smiles indulgingly as he crawls all over my desk*
@Chris, that is still the ‘good kitten’ face – wish I could capture the wild kitten look!
