Gym musings

March 11th, 2010

Today I would have liked to be anything free to roam outside in the fresh air, but I was a human stuck in front of my computer all day. Then I was a human half killing myself at the gym. Exhausting as it was today, it was still kinda awesome. A few things that occurred to me while I was slaving away…

* There is nothing more annoying when some chick steals the stepper, when you down to the last few SECONDS of the bike and are about to leap over and claim it.
* I really do hate treadmills, they make me feel unbalanced and off centre and I flat out refuse to run… nevertheless the view from the treadmills at The Zone on Kloof where I train is awesome, that counts for something.
* NIA looks extremely retarded, and vaguely fun – I’m not sure I could get into it, but from the way they jump around in there it looks like some people really enjoy it.
* It also seems to let people get away with major fashion crimes, yes lady in the purple one piece spandex, I’m talking about you.
* The Zone really is a cool gym, not men stinking up the place, no posers or shmodel types and an overall feeling of peace and tranquility.
* Some days the last ten minutes on whatever machine I’m on go easily, other days like today it was painful and exhausting – I could hardly lift my legs on the stupid stepper.
* People who read, text or do anything other than sweat on the treadmill/bike/stepper are missing the point completely, and doing it wrong.
* I really don’t know why I wasn’t going that much, being back has been so awesome and really feel amped about stuff again.

I really wish I had milk right now, coffee would be good. Sugar or chocolate would also be good. Aaah, oh well… it’s Friday tomorrow. Then I can feel like a butterfly and be free of the confines of work. :-)
