10 Things I Learned This Week

Freaky Frivolous Friday!

Well, for those who went back to work on Monday like I did, we did it – we survived the first week back. I can’t speak for the rest of you, but my week hasn’t exactly been all fun and games. Nevertheless, it’s gone quickly and it wasn’t all bad really… just a bit of a blur to be honest.

Here are a few things I learned this week…

1. Don’t mess around with back problems. I waited almost a month to go to chiropractor, only to have it get worse – finally went yesterday, and now can get on the mend, yay.

2. Robot Chicken never gets old. All the same, I think it’s time I got some new seasons for variety, much as love watching season one and two to death.

3. Smoothies kick ass in a big way. So far I’ve been randomly stuffing whatever fruit I have into my Russell Hobbes Glow, and then adding ice blocks, juice/water/milk and plain yogurt – I think I may try some new variations soon.

4. I am a total wuss when it comes to ongoing pain. And yet I am fine with tattoos, waxing, bruises being pressed out, blackberry thorns stuck in my finger and cuts and assorted injuries… weird!

5. I have given up coffee. Stop the presses, I am actually ok with this – part of the reason is because I am so loving peppermint tea (which is just as good as caffeine, only healthier), another reason is that I am actually feeling far better without my daily cups of caffeine. Let’s see how long this lasts anyway!

6. Fortune favours the bold. My new motto for the year; time to step out of my comfort zone and aim for the moon – I’ve worked damn hard over the past four years, now it’s time to start seeing some payback!

7. Getting mystery parcels at the post office is cool. I haven’t managed to pick mine up though, and I’m really hoping it will be worth all the effort of getting it, no idea what it is or even who it could be from. I am not great with surprises so can’t help being wary, but secretly I am rather excited to see what it is!

8. This time of year is always a bit hard. This is probably why New Year’s is not my favourite holiday; it will always remind me of the last New Year’s I got to spend with my cousin. Even after all these years, it still feels like I lost a small part of me – being that close to someone for most of your life I guess you carry them with you forever though.

9. PMS makes everything crappy. From bursting into tears after realising that my flat would have to wait another week for Debra to return, to getting super upset when my laptop freezes, not to mention the pathetic bleating about this back, I have been a sorry-ass mess this week. Meh!

10. No matter how bad a week is, it always comes to an end. My mom’s resolution is to celebrate the start of a new week, and all the opportunities that each week brings. So I had a bad week this time, so what – it’s almost over, and a brand new week is ahead with a chance to get things right.

So for now I am feeling cautiously optimistic (not to mention stiff and sore!). This weekend I plan to watch Shuster movies, maybe track down Poltegeist cult classic, go and pick up my parcel at Vlaeberg, perhaps have coffee, and otherwise do as little as possible.

Refresh and recharge, that’s the general idea anyway! ;-)

Happy Friday people – hope it’s a good one all round.

I stopped drinking coffee over a week ago, going well as I haven’t had an urge to drink some, and I love coffee, but I also feel good without it, am drinking milo.

I started work on Wednesday, at least it was like easing back into it coz suddenly its Friday :) shame you had to have a full week :)

Omg I’d have been at the post office 2 minutes after getting the notification, go girl! let me know what it is, mystery parcels are awesome! I’ve only had one surprise in the post, it was amazing.

  2. Roxilla says:

Lucky you on the work thing, it feels like an entire year has gone by since Monday! ;-)

And well done on the coffee – much as I also love it, finding I’m not missing it as much as I thought I would. Not yet anyway!

I shall indeed reveal what my mystery parcel is, with any luck it will be worth mentioning, hehe.

    Have an awesome weekend chick!
