Faux is the way to go

Day After Tomorrow wolves: so faux, so cheesy I was kinda half watching the bore fest that is The Day After Tomorrow, which was on etv last night. I’ve seen it before, and it didn’t really rank up there as movies I enjoy – disaster movies are second only to period war dramas or epic biopics in terms of boreville to me. Still, there wasn’t much else on and I was tired enough to sit through most of it anyway. … Read More »

Wine, hour by hour, dreams

“But who can say what’s best? That’s why you need to grab whatever chance you have of happiness where you find it, and not worry about other people too much. My experience tells me that we get no more than two or three such chances in a life time, and if we let them go, we regret it for the rest of our lives.” ~ Haruki Murakami (Norwegian Wood) It’s starting to sink in at last. Things that have been … Read More »

Sad Summery Saturdays

There is something to be said about breaking up with your boyfriend just before a weekend, on a payday, at the start of summer. If my heart weren’t so broken, I may even have said that the timing was some sort of consolation. I haven’t really quite gotten used to the fact that I am single again. Heartbreak is a funny thing. Emotions, just chemicals in our brain and yet they have the power to make us feel so utterly … Read More »

Tuesday Tunage: James Taylor

As my zen levels fade quicker than Nivea sunless bronzer, my taste in music gets more and more along the mope zone. This has been a long and mostly stressful month, I am tired beyond belief and today has just been hard on so many levels. James Taylor came on Oprah today and reminded me what a beautiful voice he has, and how awesome music was back in the 70′s – especially alongside his former wife Carly Simon (one of … Read More »

Disorganisamation, sleep deprivation, weekends

It’s hard to believe that Saturday is here at last, after a very long and draining week of minimal sleep, deadlines, manic work and far too much coffee it’s taken a while for the reality to kick in. A lot of random thoughts, because with less than five hours sleep last night I am still operating on a somewhat different zone today… * Organisation, or pitiful attempts thereof… After reading @Brazen’s post on organisation, and then watching an insert on … Read More »

The Week That Was…

I’m not quite sure how it happened, but the weekend is just around the corner yet again. And I have to admit, I haven’t been looking forward to a week ending this much in a while. Life is been pretty manic this week, and with minimal off time, extra over-time each day, freelance work up to my ears and busy workdays in the daytime, I’m starting to feel like quite the workaholic. The thing is though, compared to last month, … Read More »

Monday Mope Music: It Can’t Rain All The Time

We watched The Crow on Saturday night. Or rather, we got halfway through and fell asleep, and I watched it properly yesterday morning. It’s hard to explain how much I love this movie, it made a very strong impression on me watching it as a teenager going though a hectic time; and to me it has always been more of a love story than anything else. I cried my eyes out at the end back then, and I cried again … Read More »

November Rain

Enough is really enough now. I know we are technically still in spring, and that the plants and reservoirs need it (especially with fire season around the corner) and I know it’s not such a big deal… but I don’t like rain. I don’t like getting wet, I am tired of umbrellas and jeans, and I miss the sun. Half watching Maid in Manhattan (lame!) and enjoying my favourite red, in my cozy flat with pajamas and socks isn’t that … Read More »
