What a day…

Must… have… coffee… Waking up has been especially hard this week. Not having much of a weekend, and working every night last week tends to have that effect, and as they are wont to do when I am tired, my tonsils have chosen this time to act up. All in all, for the morning person that I am, it makes getting up something of a challenge when you feel so groggy. Like I do every morning, the first thing I … Read More »

Monday Mope Music: Come Down

As we continue the Bush moments of our wild youth, this one happened to play on the classic Marky Mark spectacular I watched last night, Fear. That movie came out when I was a teenager, loved it then, love it now. Oddly enough though, Come Down only really got to be one of my favourites a good few years later. It is one of the songs that will always remind me of my Thirsty Bitches… blasting Bush at one or … Read More »

Work, boyfriends, wishlists…

It’s been quite a strange weekend. Working every day kind of changes time somewhat, it makes the week blend into the weekend and I can’t quite believe that it’s Monday tomorrow. Taking a step back into the time warp has been weird, but I’ve gotten a lot done. It wasn’t all work though, and I did have an awesome time at a dinner party on Saturday night. It was a very old friend’s birthday, and the first time she had … Read More »

The yin in the yang

I’m so tired my eyes can’t focus, but I am feeling impossibly happy today. I have a deadline looming ahead on Monday, but I still get tingles when I catch a whiff of the heavenly body butter my man gave me… it’s like my little yin yang balance is totally harmonious and zen at the moment. Mmmm….! Last night the man gave me a Body Shop hamper as a present – Japanese Cherry Blossom. It smells so divine, and makes … Read More »

Forever may you run

I have been a Bush and Gavin Rossdale fan since I was about 15. High school druggie ex was very into them, and I will always be transported back to the lounge at his parent’s house… very beautiful house in Rondebosch, lots of subtle furnishings and huge gold picture frames. Stolen afternoons getting hammered on Graca and the endless walks, bicycle rides and later scooter rides to and from our houses. Nothing like teenage love hey, sad and sweet and … Read More »

Killah Bunny!

This is seriously one of the best things I’ve seen in ages… Monthy Python’s famous killer rabbit scene from the Holy Grail, set to Moloko’s Killa Bunnies! As a big Moloko fan and someone who was raised on the Pythons and their particularly hilarious and silly humour, this really is the bee’s knees. It makes me wish I still had Holy Grail on DVD, suddenly in the mood for silly English kiniggets and knights who say ‘nii’ and servants with … Read More »

Happy Birthday Viggo!

51 and still yummy The ever-divine Viggo Mortensen turns 51 today, and I swear the man just doesn’t lose his appeal. I’m a huge fan, even when he plays a baddy opposite the dreadful Gwyneth Paltrow (can’t even remember that movie, had Michael Douglas too?) – the man is just hot.

Tuesday Things

So hard to believe that it’s Tuesday again, already! The second last Tuesday of October nogal, how’s that for a scary thought! It’s been a strange and rather discomforting day, but things finally feel better and I think that this week will end off on a good note – even if I am snowed under with a deadline. A few things for the week… 1. Over-estimating Tan Can time is not fun. While there is a good chance I will … Read More »

Tan Can: Surreal

Awesomeness I’m so stiff I can hardly walk, lord knows how I managed an hour of cardio machines at gym. Since lunch I have had this energised glow though, and it’s all thanks to Tan Can! I popped over to gym at lunchtime for a 6.5 minute session, not knowing what to expect but keen to begin my summer preparation. Stripping down and putting the coupon in, and then standing there wondering what next, I was suddenly blinded by 360 … Read More »

Shifts

Running (wo)man… It’s funny how that little switch in your brain goes on or off. You can spend months sucked into a cycle of stress and worry, and bad habits… and then all of a sudden it feels like a shift has taken place, and you feel like you’ve come out of a coma. After a pretty long and not all that great weekend, I emerged from the fog on Monday feeling drained but calm. My very good intentions to … Read More »
