I hope people in your town get wind of where you live and make your life a living hell and that you are plagued by nightmares every night. People like you do not deserve to keep animals!
I read a very, very upsetting news item on IOL this morning about a man who dragged his dog behind his car, then cut the rope and threw the dog into the bushes, to ‘punish’ the dog for allegedly biting his child.
When the SPCA arrived on the scene to rescue the poor animal, it was injured so severely and was so traumatized that they had to put it down. A case has been opened against the asshole who did this, but the way things work it will be months at best before he is tried, and even then our animal protection laws are so laughable that it’s unlikely he will really be punished. Someone should tie HIM to a car and drag him!
This kind of thing makes me so furious and upset at how people can be so ignorant and cruel to do something like this and believe that it’s their right to be able to treat animals how they like. Animals may not be on the same level as us, but they can still feel pain, fear and trauma – and by no stretch of the imagination is dragging a dog behind your car suitable ‘punishment’ for a dog who has bitten.
It just made me feel so shitty reading that, have to wonder why people are allowed to own pets – and why they want to own animals if they care so little about them.
Madness, sjoe.
There are no words for this horrible excuse for a human. Funny, i read that same article this morning. was wondering when you were going to mention it.
Nonetheless, I know the sound of a dog being dragged under a car (unfortunate witness I was to a very unfortunate accident), and to this day, it still bothers me when I recall the incident. I hope this man’s humanity kicks in at some stage, and then i hope that sound bothers him for the rest of his life.
I really hope he has the balls to admit, at least to his child, what a horrible horrible thing he has done.
It upsets me just thinking about it – and imagine how that kid will feel when it grows up knowing that the dog died like that because he or she was bitten.
Sorry about your bad experience, amazing how things like that shape our lives. When I was growing up, my mom would always rescue any animal she saw in distress, from birds (which we would keep in closed rooms away from the cats) and injured cats to dogs. There was a very badly injured cat once that we had to take to the vet to be put down, it was awful. Still remember that cat.
I hope that they do charge him soon, and I think the idea of him doing community work at the SPCA is good – hopefully that will help him realise what a terrible thing he did, that can often change people’s attitudes.
Til then, I hope he is ostracized and tormented wherever he goes!
That’s fucking shocking! I hope that guy learns from “what goes around, comes around”!
Sheesh.
Ja, people like that create a cycle – his kid may well grow up with the same shit attitude if nothing is done.
Very shocking indeed.
