Bad Day in the City

January 28th, 2009

I know I’m meant to be all positive and stuff, but right now I am not feeling the warm and fuzzies at all. It’s been a day from hell, and my envisioned end to the day is not on a balcony with a Savanna as I had hoped, but instead me at my laptop for the entire night as well as day.

Look, I’m not moaning about work. At this point, without long term contracts, any project I get is much appreciated and I relish each new challenge. It’s everything else that’s getting me down as I try and focus on these projects which is the problem…

Currently making me go into stress overload:

1. It was too windy this morning to run, but we only reaslised this at about 6am… I was snoozing the alarm from 5am
2. My lack of a run coincided with an epic fat day, and I didn’t get time to cycle either
3. I didn’t get time to eat either – other than the Black Cat power bar I had for breakfast
4. I forgot to get electricity today when I made a shop dash for milk… hopefully it will last til tomorrow
5. I had to deal with a tricky client who has been causing me a lot of stress
6. My iBurst cap ran out… as I was about to send through my reports
7. My damn laptop hasn’t been playing nice – it hates MS Word and has to be rebooted often

It’s not all doom and gloom though – a few things shone out of the darkness and made this day marginally bearable…

Happy thoughts for the day:

1. A quick morning dose of the kitty cam – nothing like hyper kittens to boost the spirits!
2. My awesome mom for topping up my iBurst and calming me down during my late afternoon panic
3. My great clients I currently have who DON’T make life stressful
4. Debra sorting out my wardrobe – I may battle to find things, but it sure looks organised!
5. My lovely friends who offered support today… I needed that :-)
6. The chickpeas roasting in the oven which will be turned into a yummy salad in a few minutes
7. The fresh, perfectly ripe mango I got at the cafe on my shop dash this morning

Guess that evens the score… now I must get working, so I can be done in time for Bionic Woman (which is the only decent thing on TV these days).

Tomorrow is going to make up for this day, after my morning meeting I have a cultural excursion planned… can’t friggin’ wait!
