Detox Weekends: Good

Calm, wonderful calm…

Well, I managed to survive a weekend without going out, without bread (well, except for one minor lapse – damn jalapeno sub!), without chocolate, without junk (well other than the small packet of Sun Bites)… and without exercise come to think of it, oops.

What I did have was loads of delicious fresh fruit, yummy salads, rice bowls, spiced chickpeas, water, coffee (just instant though!), rest, Dexter and even an unexpected visit from my sister. I lapsed once or twice, but overall I feel like I am beating the carb monster and will hopefully be able to kick the habit soon for good. I felt so icky after that jalapeno sub – and it just proved to me once and for all that bread is not my friend.

So, overall last week was pretty good on the diet front. I started late and the week didn’t get off to the best start, but by mid-week I had gotten myself together and managed to eat properly.

I didn’t manage to run last week, which sucked, but I did put in some time on my exercise bike about 4 times in the week, which is at least something.

I am going to lose weight if it means eating rabbit food for the rest of the year, and the way I see it, chocolate and bad carbs are just not worth the shitty feeling I get when I look in the mirror. I have to be hardball about this because I’m not blessed with skinny genes, so it’s time to stop moping and get into a good routine!

Here’s to a happy, healthy week ahead – I think this is going to be a good one… can feel it in my bones. :-)

do it more for that health feeling than for cheap throw-away magazine inspired vanity – not to say that you can’t have both but the motivation is important.

and anyway you look fine – just make some post holiday season adjustments – and it’ll be fine.

life without chocolate just sounds so damning.

It won’t necessarily be a life without chocolate – just a bit of a break.

I’m doing it for health as well as vanity… I am not feeling all that healthy, and I’m not happy with my current state. Ordinarily those few post-holiday changes would be enough, but since I’m not doing Muaythai or training heavily, it will take a lot more disciple than usual to get myself back into shape.

The way I see it, you have to make a choice – make a half-hearted attempt and never properly reach your goals, or be hectic about it for a while and see some changes.
