Well this is fun

Knees: annoying I was under the impression that once knee injuries healed, they stayed healed, but that just shows how little I know – my damn knee doesn’t seem to know this fact anyway, it’s annoying. My cycle session today was rudely cut short by my wayward knee aching, now it’s acting up like it has post-traumatic shock and is reliving its traumatic experience of wiping out on Kloof Street thanks to vintage shoes I keep forgetting to re-sole. Sheesh, … Read More »

Moderation & Flexibility = Key

One of the biggest reasons for fitness programs and diets to fail is lack of flexibility. So often, rigid diets which restrict us cause us to lose heart and lapse, never to try again. Fitness programs get too much, and we give up. So, how do we make health and fitness a lifestyle rather than a phase? By remembering how important moderation and flexibility are, that’s how. I have had times of non-negotiable dieting and training, and I have kept … Read More »

Photo Tag

I was tagged by Louisa to do this cool photo tag. Here’s how it works: 1. Access the folder / location on your hard drive where you store your photos. 2. Go to the 6th folder, and pick out the 6th picture in that folder. 3. Now post it on your blog with an explanation of the story behind it. 4. Finally tag 6 other people to do the same. This is a photo of my beloved San Pedro mescal … Read More »

Robben Island Mission: Hectic

Madiba’s cell… a little piece of history Yesterday a friend of mine took me on a Robben Island cruise. It is both incredible and somewhat shameful that neither of us had been before, but I am so glad that we finally went. So much history in our country, and we grow up knowing only half of it. The sad truth is that we don’t really have a good sense of our real history – and for many white kids who … Read More »

I feel like cheesecake or something decadant

For the first time in almost two weeks I slept well last night… I was dithering over whether I should stay up and watch The Birdcage, or get an early one, and man am I glad I opted to go to bed! I had set my alarm for 5am to prepare myself to get up at 5h45, but forgot to reset it and had it on snooze. Suddenly realised I had overslept when I got the missed call from my … Read More »

I’m Loving… Virtual Kittens!!

Online video chat by Ustream Ever since I came across the kitty cam, I’ve been popping in for a quick stress buster. It’s a known fact that kittens are the most entertaining thing ever, and this batch are insane – they go crazy in their play area, it’s awesome. UPDATE: These adorable kittens are shelter babies, check out FoundAnimals.org for more info on why it’s better to adopt than buy.

Happy Birthday Sarah McLachlan

And thank you for moving us to tears with classics like Fallen and Angel. Right now, in this moment, this song brings a lump to my throat. Too stunning for words. No-one can come close to having a voice like this. Not even close. Heaven bent to take my hand And lead me through the fire Be the long awaited answer To a long and painful fight Truth be told I’ve tried my best But somewhere along the way I … Read More »

Bad Day in the City

I know I’m meant to be all positive and stuff, but right now I am not feeling the warm and fuzzies at all. It’s been a day from hell, and my envisioned end to the day is not on a balcony with a Savanna as I had hoped, but instead me at my laptop for the entire night as well as day. Look, I’m not moaning about work. At this point, without long term contracts, any project I get is … Read More »

50 Things I Like About Me | Self-Esteem Boosting 101

Confession time… I have a really crappy self-esteem. It wasn’t always this bad, but over the last couple of years I have let things get me down, and as a result my mojo and self-esteem have taken a big knock. I came across a few tips recently to boost self-esteem from the inside out, and one of them was to make a list of 50 things you like about yourself. Then, each day you can add another thing until you … Read More »

Feel Good Inc.

Early mornings in Cape Town: awesome It’s a lovely Tuesday morning in the city bowl, and I’m feeling good. I was up just before 6am this morning, and was out for a run by 6h15… we ended up extending our route, and I got back just after 7am feeling tired and sweaty, but really charged. Some reasons to smile today… 1. I have been listening to some Gorillaz classics, am such a huge fan – especially with Jamie Hewlett offering … Read More »
