Happy Birthday Nikki Sixx

Too badass for words yet somehow so hilariously camp and OTT

I am a big Motely Crue fan, and just could not resist a chance to reminisce on some of my favourite songs in honour of Nikki Sixx’s 50th birthday today.

These dudes were so hardcore, with their old skool tattoos, bad 80′s hair, even worse 80′s fashion, and not to mention the make up and hard living. Yet their music has always been so good, without that screaming noise factor that modern rock seems to have developed. They’re like a cross between Def Leppard and Guns ‘n Roses, with a bit more hardcore thrown in. Their music videos are awesome too I might add.

Here are a few of my favourites, in no particular order…

1. Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) – bit softer than their usual stuff, but this is my favourite favourite, love this song bigtime
2. Smoking in the Boys Room – awesome video, and a nice badass song
3. Too Young to Fall in Love – bit of an anthem, with their trademark hardcore twist
4. If I Die Tomorrow – beautiful song, typical 80′s heavy metal love song
5. Without You – If I ever get married, this is what will play at my wedding

I don’t know, maybe I’m just getting old, but music today – especially metal and rock – just isn’t nearly as good as it used to be. I haven’t heard even one band who can come close to the legends like Motley Crue, KISS, Guns ‘n Roses or Def Leppard, and I won’t even get mention the icons like The Doors and the Stones.

This is why I will keep listening to cheese. It never gets old, and good rock never really dies.

NO WAY? Me too. I had SUCH a crush on Nix Stix. *Swoon*.

Without you was my uber teenaged angst song.

  2. Roxilla says:

I LOVE that song, been playing it to death the last few days.

I’m a die-hard 80′s rock chick, but there’s just something special about Motley Crue… love their music. And that make-up, too priceless!
