This Sasol ad freaks me out bigtime. Not only is that puppet seriously creepy and sinister, the horror movie music adds an extra dose of macabre. It may have picked up a few awards, but I still don’t see what the hell it has to do with petrol.
Ads these days are starting to annoy me overall, it’s all about abstract and such a huge number either don’t fit with the product or just try too hard. I won’t even get started on the Appletizer ad with the Robben Hood slash William Tell chick prancing through the forest to find an apple. Delirious soundtrack or not, it’s not cool.
I’d rather have cheesy Chicken Licken or Good Hope FM ads (the new one features two of my mates I might add, it’s classic) or straight forward ads that make their point simply and clearly. But please, spare me the creepy killer puppets!
P.S. Does it count as defamation if I don’t like a company’s ad, and can this get me sued? Hope not, but just in case – please note that these views are my own opinion and not actually based on anything than my own views on manic puppets. Thank you.
