My Mom, the Garden Guru

Fuchsias: pretty in pink

I am so proud of my mom, not only is she the Show Secretary for this years Fuchsia Show at Kirstenbosh, but she was also interviewed on a JHB radio station a few weekends ago and will be interviewed on Cape Talk on Friday too.

She has always had an amazing talent in the garden, and a few years back she joined the Fuchsia Society where her talents have grown. Her fuchsias’ have won a few awards at previous shows, and her garden is filled with a huge array of these beautiful plants in all colours and varieties. It’s quite something to behold, and I love sitting in her garden just looking at all the amazing things she has growing everywhere… especially since the only thing I have ever managed to keep alive are my 2 cacti, which don’t mind if I forget to water them for a few months on end.

I’m going to tune in to Cape Talk online this Friday to hear her interview, I can’t wait! Then the show will run on Saturday and Sunday, and hopefully she’ll be taking home a few more awards this year too.

Go mom go! :-)

P.S. She gets really embarrassed and bashful when I call her a garden guru and insists that she isn’t, but I know better, hehe.
