Kicking Ass in the Heatwave


Jumping knees: too damn cool for school

So my third week of being back at Muaythai has passed, even if technically I missed most of last week. Still, it’s unbelievably good to be back and I am slowly feeling my fitness and strength returning.

Today was pretty intense, training in a heatwave is quite hectic and we had a hard class. In one way, I just don’t have as much power when it’s this hot and I feel like I’m kicking in a sauna. But there’s something about heat that gives me a weird energy, and my sparring partner told me that my kicks had a lot of power, which was cool. We did some cool spinning roundhouse kicks, I love those. My goal is to do the jumping spinning kicks like in Kickboxer, awesome.

My arms especially are buggered, still from Tuesday and I am going to be hobbling tomorrow. It’s all good though… because tomorrow is Friday, and I have some great plans involving after-work drinks and merriment.

Then on Saturday morning, hangover or not, I’ll be off to kick some more. Yes, I am addicted, but it’s a healthy obsession and I love it.
