Diet shmiet

I’m sorry, but until the a2bFitness blog is up and running, I will be venting about food. I can’t help it, much as I wish I didn’t have to worry about shit like this, I have to try and keep some sort of control over what I eat.

So the latest rant I have is about carbs… or the minimising thereof. I know carbs are not the enemy, but they come very close to it. Bread especially has never really done too many favours for me, and cutting back or even out is a big goal. Same for pasta – much as I love it, it just doesn’t help much at all on the health front.

I know that we have to have some sort of carbs to get enough energy for the day, but I have actually found that I run and train better if I haven’t had carbs for lunch then I do if I DO have carbs. With running especially, if I eat bread or pasta at lunch, I often get stitches and I just don’t have the power. If I eat a big fat salad though, I will only stop when my calf muscles give up.

If I can’t eat carbs at lunch, and I can’t eat carbs at night because they can’t burn as they would in the day, that leaves breakfast – and this is the time of day when I need a boost because I wake up early and am at my most productive in the mornings.

I am *this* close to adding coffee to the no-go list along with bread and sugar, after my caffeine overdose today just the thought of instant makes me feel a bit ill. I have had on-off chocolate cravings at weird times, but not so bad that I really feel I need it, am saving it for the right time.

I do however wish I had bought a bottle of wine (and not lite wine either, hehe), but while I’m still recovering from my coffee experience, water is my best bet right now.

In other news, I sound like a total obsessive* and if all this effort doesn’t result in kicking major ass at the beach soon I will be majorly bummed.

* It’s not just me though, a lot of my friends who gym or train seem to share my OC food habits. :-)
