It has been a profound weekend, with a lot of thoughts to think. And a lot of introspectives while I was looking down over the Picketburg area and surrounds from high up on the mountain at Picket-Bo-Burg.
There’s been a bit of a shift in the universe, or maybe just in my universe. Whatever the case, I realised that I need to start living my life as much as possible, and not let these slumps take over. It’s not easy to shake the slumps, but like many things in life, it’s worth the effort and working hard for something makes us savour and value them so much more.
It is a fact that things will never be as good as they are right this second, and no matter how bad we think this very moment is, there is a good chance that the next moment may be worse, and we will have wasted the previous one by not appreciating it for being one more moment of our lives.
It really is now or never, and we really do have to try and remember this when things are good as well as in the bad times.
Something to think about anyway, while I enjoy this warm sunny Monday afternoon. Sorry for getting all intense, this is just how things are at the moment.
You should never apologise for being too intense! Intensity is far better than feeling lackadaisical!
It is great that you have a lovely picturesque place to sit and ponder about the universe. I think we all need a bit of introspection every now and then – even if it is only to find some semblance of sanity! I hope you have a wonderfully, intensely happy week!
Thanks hun – it’s going to be a fairly challenging one, but I shall strive for moments of happiness in-between!
just leave sitting on hills and comtemplating to men with wise ol’ white beards. you hear, you dig, you gotz it.
Hehehe, I like doing the wise old man on the mountain thing, it helps clear my head.
But I hear ya, gotta just breath and keep living, and thinking doesn’t always change much. It’s the doing that’s really key.
some zen for you:
don’t waste your time thinking;
to a peaceful mind the universe surrenders;
three things are essential: great doubt, great faith and great perserverance.
and finally understanding is like a ripe plum when it is ready it will to the ground on its own accord.
for the next time you want to climb that hill be sure to charge when the people come asking.
… when it is ready it will (fall) to the ground…
Perspective.. lacking in my neck of the woods..
@302, thanks for the eternally wise words – all very solid points to remember.
@Chris, up until Saturday, my perspective was also lacking. It took a very big and sad thing to shift it, but it did shift.
The thing spurring the introspective happened before the mountain mission, but being up there helped put it all together… and just as Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot changes our outlook, so does looking down on the place where you just were a few minutes ago.
Hard to explain, but I guess I just realised that regardless of the things I thought were wrong, I am actually very grateful to have the things that are right which I couldn’t really notice as I was focusing on the wrongs instead.
Clarity is a wonderful thing.
