I spent a large chunk of the afternoon and evening today playing with my online portfolio (www.roxb.co.za), and it’s turned out to be a lot of fun.
First, let me say that my web development skills are laughable. Other than very basic html, which I was forced to learn when I first started blogging, I have no idea what I am doing. I try though, and sometimes I get lucky and things don’t break.
Today though, I somehow managed to add some meta tags, like keywords and a description, add a few keywords to my front page, move clients to their own pages, spruce up my ‘About’ post, and add some copywriting articles.
Next, I had better add me some Akismet pronto, and I also want to add a share plugin so to encourage people (other than me) to spread my wonderful words of wisdom. I will also get cracking on some more copy articles, and market them to bring in more traffic. Basically, I really want to boost this baby as much as I can to see how it does.
So, I think that perhaps I should put my Rox in the City revamp on hold for a bit, and focus on getting my portfolio sauteed actually and help it bring me work and make me lots of money! Sigh… ok, bring me a few extra clients and keep me from poverty.
Exciting times, it’s only just occurring to me that I am effectively my own little business now. As such, I shall be marketing myself and expanding my little empire.
To infinity and beyond y’all!
P.S. In other news, I am just about ready to get out of this extended winter hibernation mode, haven’t caused anything remotely like mayhem in too long, time to get my mojo back already!
It’s functional which always good, a nice simple placeholder for work accomplished and teaser so people can get in touch.
But you want smoke and mirrors as well don’t you.
I want it to kick major ass, basically.
It’s still a work in progress – so we shall just have to wait and see!
nice one Rox.
Lovely Rox – I love the flowers! Congrats you must be so proud!
Thanks guys – it’s cool to be getting to a solid point in this game, just need to see how far I can take it now!
