I don’t care if Monday’s blue
Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don’t care about you
It’s Friday, I’m in love
Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Oh, Thursday doesn’t even start
It’s Friday I’m in love
Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate…
I don’t care if Mondays black
Tuesday, Wednesday – heart attack
Thursday, never looking back
It’s Friday, I’m in love
Monday, you can hold your head
Tuesday, Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday – watch the walls instead
It’s Friday, I’m in love
Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate…
Dressed up to the eyes
It’s a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It’s such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It’s Friday, I’m in love
Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn’t even start
It’s Friday I’m in love
You have just reminded me that I need to resume my search for long lost songs tonight before I log on to WoW…. I have a ton of stuff that I need to get into my all time greats bucket before I kick a bucket. I reeeeeealy need to find “A Gentleman’s Excuseâ€, “Jesus (Alternative Version)â€, “Clouds across the moon†among other cultist type songs that meant a lot at the time I heard them and they kinda got lost in history and stuck in my mind (only)
Pretty words above tho (Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday too) xD
One of my favourite Cure songs.
I’ve been listening to a lot of old alternative, also grunge. Then again, have also been on a trip hop vibe lately too… overall nice dark tunage, lol.
Working in the entertainment industry for such a large part of my life, in particular being in the club DJ boxes people asked me on more than one occasion what my type of music is … i.e what do I listen to at home etc… Here is the shocker .. in public I entertained Drum n Bass crowds… at home .. 80s 90s Alternative, Leonard Cohen (w00p), Spanish Ballads (w00p x2)… Nothing like a Dry Red Wine with one of the aforementioned in the background on a good sound system while the sun sets on a restless earth… whoa … I write like a poet … best I stop .. just now I go all mushy and “non-man†like xD
I love Leonard Cohen bigtime, also Tom Waits and Crosby Stills & Nash, and Neil Young… old skool mope is the way to go!
Some people find Cohen extremely depressing … lol .. I find it romantic and uplifting hahaha
He’s a poet, awesome lyrics and beautiful music.
… and a lot more meaning to simplistic words that meets the eye … there are many sites on the web where they psycho analyze some of his songs and just how deep they go. Once line can hold an entire world on information.
I don’t know if you know the song “Light as the Breeze” go have an insightful look at this man on:
Pagan Imagery in the Work of a Modern Troubadour, Another Essay – by Heidi Nelson Hochenedel [ http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/breeze.html ]
*You will never listen to that song in the same way ever again
You will actually pause and think.
PS: Stumbled onto this quote about Cohen (yeah … you got me surfing the web and not working) … which I think is spot-on
Cohen is a master of the quasi-surrealistic phrase, of the “illogical” line that speaks so directly to the unconscious that surface ambiguity is transformed into ultimate, if fleeting, comprehension: comprehension of the bewitching nuances of sex and bewildering assaults of culture.
….. deeeeeeply accurate
Sjoe, very hectic indeed!
Thanks for the link, will also look up my favourite track Hallelujah.
Yes, that sums him up perfectly!
