Gorgeous and doing his bit for seals, gotta love him

Being the die-hard America’s Next Top Model fan I am, and of course an animal lover, I was super stoked to see world-renowned photographer and ANTM judge Nigel Barker doing some amazing work to highlight the plight of Harp seals killed in the Canadian Seal Hunt.

I have posted about the total disgrace to Canada that is their annual seal hunt, and have been following the hunt since it began a few weeks ago. Nigel Barker is one of the celebrities who is using his influence as well as talents to highlight this travesty. Nigel has been documenting and photographing the hunt this year to draw attention to the brutality and waste of the hunt. His photographs include pictures of Harp seals giving birth on the ice, seals in their various stages of moults, as well as pictures of the sealing boats, and the kills. These pictures are not all graphic, but he will be using all pictures (disturbing and stunning) in an exhibition to raise awareness for the cause.

He has designed Save Me Seal t-shirts for starters, which feature seal pups wearing ‘Save Me’ bling around their necks, and has ‘Make A Fashion Statement – Save The Seals.‘ emblazoned on the front. They’re way cool, too bad there aren’t available this side of the world, I want a pink one.

It might be too late for the Harp seal pups this year, but with any luck, the ever-increasing international pressure and mounting awareness and disgust will finally convince Canada to stop their seal hunt for good. Then again, if designers like Gucci continue to sell seal fur items, during hunt season, despite all the outrage… and brainless people actually keep buying them… it makes it that much harder.

Respek to Nigel Barker though, he’s a legend!
