Fabulous Friday

February 9th, 2008

Also known as ‘fuck it all Friday’, it was a pretty damn good one. Well, once I had gotten off work that is. After an insanely hectic week, Chris and I decided that letting loose and having a partay was in order, so after preparing ourselves with a few Vodka Red Bulls, we headed off to my new favourite club, Bronx.

Hell yeah!

Bronx was packed beyond belief, but it was rocking bigtime. I just love that place more each time I’ve been there – the music is really good uplifting house, the vibe is a bit insane, but awesome, the people are friendly, some of the gay guys are super entertaining, there are gays, straights, in betweens and just about anything else you can think of all there to just have fun, even if a lot of them buy their fun in pill or powder form. There’s just something about the place that makes it a kickass place to party.

The dancefloor was jam packed, and it was seriously over-heated, many of the more ‘chemically enhanced’ guys had taken off their shirts, the beats were pumping, and the weekend feeling had pretty much gripped everyone. By 3am or so my heels were starting to hate my feet, and my poor Kung Fu’d out muscles had gotten a good warm up, and I kept knocking my skinned knuckles against things (which hurts like a mofo I might add).

Getting outside into the slightly cooler air was heaven – getting home and taking off my heals and eating left over pizza and having some early morning ‘me time’ with the fan on and the cats sitting on either side of me while I vegged out was bliss.

All in all, it was a totally fabulous Friday.

It was awesome – just what I needed after a busy week! Hope you had a good evening too hun. :-)

  3. Sounds like a kick-ass night. I’m a bit past the clubbing phase, but Bronx was around when I was in that phase (when everything else has closed, it used to be the one club you could count on to still be open). Strange how all the clubs around it died out or changed name, yet it just kept on rocking.

Totally! I also think it’s great that it hasn’t gone mainstream, but at the same time you don’t have to be gay to go there and have fun. It’s pretty lowkey, which is cool.

In my party days, my boyfriend at the time (who was a DJ) played a set at Angels, and I went with a guy friend of mine to support him… fuckin hell – we spent the entire few hours we were there clutching hands in a corner of the dancefloor, defending ourselves from hardcores and canning ourselves at the pretty boys watching themselves dancing in front of the mirror, it was mad!

You best not drink all the leftover Vodka, we’re guna need that for round 3 you know!

I was a totally awesome night and yes, it’s the best club in Cape Town! Grief, I just remember when we decided to take a break and head outside and it was almost as hot outside as it was inside, madness!

I really had a great time too, save some of that Vodka, I know you’ve eaten the leftover pizza and drank the left over redbull, but that Vodka will come in handy soon soon!

Thanks for a fab night out Rox! You really did Rox the City!
