Damn he was hot in Sin City!
Last night I actually went to a movie. We wanted to watch Borat, but it was sold out so we decided to watch Children of Men. I have to admit, I only had the vaguest idea what it was about and only wanted to watch it because it has Clive Owen in it and everything else looked kak.
Oh. My. God. As it starts off like most other action-type movies set in the perilous future, I was expecting an easy ride. Not so. To give you an idea what this movie is about, it is set in 2017 or so and no child has been born in 14 years. The world has nearly all been destroyed by war, and the only country that has not been is the UK. The government has banned all refugees from anywhere else, and anyone trying to get into the UK is treated like criminals and taken to camps or killed. There are groups trying to uprise and overthrow the government and other groups trying to kill everything in sight. Everyday living is in effect a warzone with rebels and police going at it with guns and bombs and hoards of immigrants in cages and dead, dying or hurt people everywhere – utter chaos. Our hero, or rather anti-hero as he is just a drunken dude with issues, is asked to smuggle a young girl out of the city… and she is pregnant.
Sounds a bit lame, but the way this movie is filmed and the sheer rawness and violence of it make it extremely hectic. Some people actually left the cinema, and I have never witnessed that happen – not even with the stupid Blair Witch Project farce. Go and see it… if you can handle this kind of thing.
Pervin again Fox? Hehehe….
Sounds like my kinda fliek, I’ll give it a bash.
You do that. And I wasn’t perving! He looked hot in Sin City, but in this one there are no beautiful people.
I got a bot lost in SinCity though
Watch it again. Then watch it again. Then get some good chronic and watch it again. Then you’ll get it.
I did not get it … they are not really connected … they were all in some bar … is that it?
Read the comic. They are connected, each story is sort of linked to another but is also separate. Like I said, watch it again and you’ll start to get it.
Have you watched Closer? Probably Clive Owen’s best movie. That movie was bizarre and Natalie Portman as a stripper…
Been wanting to see that actually, now I have 3 good reasons, hehehe!
It’s an intense movie, alot of hectic dialog. Not a Sunday night type of movie.
Noted. Neither is Children on Men… in fact, it’s one of those movies that will disturb you no matter when you watch it. But brilliant.
Clive Owen can brood well but Nic Cage still takes the deep soulful look cake.
Sup nyak
Finally get to see the site, and as expected there’s no disappointment. Nice work girl…
Thaaaanks ilks!
P.S. Paul, Nic Cage is a master at the soulful look… but Clive Owen does the dark and brooding look a tiny bit better. Mebbe it’s that he hasn’t done too many chick flicks? I dunno.
[...] Clive Owen simply looked tortured in Children of Men. Most of the people in Hostel get the real deal… shame. [...]
You may have a point there Rox!
