“Where have all the good men gone?
And where are all the guards/
Isn’t there a white knight upon a firey steed?
Late at night I toss and turn and dream of what I’ll meet/
I need a hero / I’m holding on for a hero to the end of the night
He’s got to be strong and he’s got to be brave, and he’s got to be fresh from the fight”
Bonnie Tyler – I Need A Hero

Gotta love cheesy music. But cheese aside, where have the hero’s gone exactly? These days you just don’t get decent hero’s around. Brave, brave men who’ll go charging into battle to rescue you and tie your scarf around their lance. Having seen a fair number of hero’s fresh from a Muaythai fight, I have to agree that this is what we need, even if the battle is just a fight with some dude from Jozi, so what? I get a kick from watching the fighters spar, so you can imagine how much I enjoy a real fight. I finally saw Ong Bak – and there is a fine example of a good hero: no super powers, van damme silly plot, no OTT stunts, just Tony Jaa looking hot and heroic and some good Muaythai moves.
I have no idea what I was meant to be saying anymore, but I think it was that we need more heroes. If you think you are a hero, it’s time to show the world what you got. That means helping old ladies and saving the day. The next time the girl next to you drops something, pick it up and give it back to her with an intense look. After all, real men are passe – heroic men are so hot right now.
I’m so used by now to commentate on stuff in Ostendo that I feel I should have an opinion on pretty much everything. And very often I do, though in the real world I tend to keep it much more to myself.
This post however is leaving me speechless, which I guess is the reason I’m rambling on about commentating and not Hero’s.
Um, ok.
Bwhahahaah!
